TFS English as a Second Language (ESL) Pathway Program

This fully online program enables students with less than the minimum required language proficiency scores to be accepted into Toronto Film School programs in Ontario. The ESL Pathway Program must be completed first.

The Toronto Film School ESL program will help you brush up your English and adjust to the Canadian academic environment. We’ll work on such areas as:

Academic writing

Group discussions

Analyzing academic reading materials

Critical thinking skills

Delivering effective presentations

Research and referencing

Addressing differences in academic culture

The ESL program or testing is not necessary for those:

Who have successfully studied for three years in an English-speaking country.

Who have studied in English for at least two years at a recognized college, or have successfully completed one year of study at a recognized university.

Who have a one-year post graduate certificate (completed in English) at a recognized college.

ESL Pathway Program Levels

There are three levels of study. Each level is 12 weeks in duration and involves 15 hours of instruction and 10 hours of lab work per week.

Please note that applicants with an IELTS score (or equivalent) of 5.5 can start their Toronto Film School program by taking an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course in their first term.

All students will continue to have access to language and international student services once enrolled at Toronto Film School.
