Admission requirements
To become a student at Toronto Film School, you will need to complete the following steps:

Complete and submit an online application form.

Pay the application fee (all on-campus programs are $100 with the exception of Film Production at $500. This fee will be deducted from your tuition total).

Provide original or notarized translated academic transcripts. You must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or its equivalent.

Submit the requirements for your program of choice (see ‘Requirements by Program’ below).

For international students only: provide proof of English-language proficiency.

For international students only: Send a copy of your passport.
Please note that if you are over 18 and not enrolling directly from secondary school you may be asked to take a mature student test.
Students can cancel a contract within two days of signing it if they deliver a written notice of cancellation to Toronto Film School at the address shown on the contract; otherwise the application fees are non-refundable.
Requirements by Program
FILM PRODUCTION
ACTING FOR FILM, TV AND THE THEATRE
(Please note a follow-up interview and cold read may be required).
Admittance into the Acting for Film, TV and the Theatre program requires an in-person or video call interview with the program director, where you may be asked to read a cold script.
WRITING FOR FILM & TV
Please submit a portfolio of two (or more) writing pieces. Your writing material will not be returned.
GRAPHIC DESIGN & INTERACTIVE MEDIA
VIDEO GAME DESIGN & ANIMATION
Please note: Video Game Design & Animation applicants need to have completed a Grade 11 course in visual arts. Courses in Grade 11 computers/digital media are recommended.
Graduation Requirements for All Programs
To graduate, you need to complete all courses in the chosen program with a 1.7 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in the 4.3 scale or better.
The following hours must be completed, per program:
Film, Writing and Video Game programs: 1728 hours
Acting for Film, TV and the Theatre: 1512 hours
Graphic Design & Interactive Media: 1152 hours
Any course with a grade W or F must be retaken in order to graduate.
